The 2006 National Healthcare Quality Report (NHQR) is a comprehensive national overview of quality of health care in the United States.
It is organized around four dimensions of quality of care—effectiveness, patient safety, timeliness, and patient centeredness. Those dimensions cover the four stages of care from the patient perspective (staying healthy, getting better, living with illness and disability, and coping with the end of life).
Measures of access to care are covered in the companion 2006 National Healthcare Disparities Report.
