The Healthcare Commission - 2005 NHS performance ratings

The Healthcare Commission publishes the annual star ratings of performance for NHS trusts in England.

This is the final year that the Commission will rate performance using the current star ratings system. Next year the inspectorate will rate trusts by reference to its new annual health check, which aims to give a more comprehensive picture of NHS performance.

The first state report on hospital-acquired infections was released by the Pennsylvania Health Care Cost Containment Council (PHC4).

Pennsylvania is the first state in US to begin collecting and reporting information about hospital-acquired infections.

AMA - Pay-for-Performance Principles and Guidelines

The American Medical Association (AMA) has adopted a new policy on pay-for-performance (P4P), The policy defines five principles of a “fair and ethical” P4P program:

1. Ensure quality of care
2. Foster the patient/physician relationship
3. Offer voluntary physician participation
4. Use accurate data and fair reporting
5. Provide fair and equitable program incentives

MCHP does research on the health of Manitobans. MCHP examine patterns of illness in the population, and study how people use health care services.
